Spring is coming up and so the weather goes from warm to cold every other day. That tends to mess up the balance of the skin. I get very dry skin from these constant weather changes. So today I’m going to tell you about a great DIY facemask that helps nourish and hydrate the skin. This mask is so mild but does wonders. Continue reading “Life saver for dry skin : DIY”
The topic for today are brushes. There are so many brands to choose from and so many kinds. That can make it pretty difficult to know where to start. Of course you don’t need brushes but they are so fun and versatile. I started buying brushes when I started experimenting with eye shadow. Just one at a time, very affordable low brand ones. But typically when starting out, not knowing what which brush does and so on, it can be good to start with buying a set. Below I’ll be reviewing the set, pros and cons. Since Christmas is almost here it‘s time to share some of my favourite Christmas movies. A lot of them are oldies but goodies. It‘s a tradition in almost every home to watch Christmas movies in December. These will be in no particular order, it was hard enough to only pick 10! But these are movies I watch every year around Christmas at least once. Hopefully you will discover some movies you haven’t seen yet although I think these are classics.
Disney’s Christmas Carol This one stars Jim Carrey. This is a total classic, everyone has heard the story which is written by Charles Dickens or seen a version of the movie. This is an animated one where Scrooge is voiced by Jim Carrey and it’s my favourite version. The Muppets Christmas Carol and Mickey’s Christmas Carol are very good as well but I think this is the best one. Continue reading “The 10 must watch Christmas movies”
The month of Christmas has arrived and I am very excited. One of the best things about advent and the few weeks leading up to Christmas is without a doubt the Christmas songs. I’m a huge fan of Michael Bublé and his Christmas album is on repeat in my house from November till February. He released a new Christmas song yesterday and i’m ecstatic. I can not put into words how happy and christmasy this song is! I wanted to share it with you because it captures what to me is the essence of the season and it’s so festive.(As he can do no wrong*swoon*)
Is there anything better than sitting at home during the cold weather and snow with a big cup of christmas tea and listening to Bublé croon while you make a batch of ginger cookies or hang up some lights? I think not.
I hope you can enjoy this with me 🙂
♥
Today I want to tell you about some skin hacks I’ve picked up over the years. I find it incredibly hard to keep my skin hydrated and good looking during frost and wind. As soon as it starts snowing my skin rebels and becomes unmanageable. It can be so tricky getting it back to a hydrated manageable state. I thought this was the perfect time to share some of them with you! Now these are all things I do or carry around pretty much every day, and for me at least they work every time. I have dry skin in the winter so they might not apply to everyone. These are things that prevent and can fix skin problems. Especially during those desperate times of harsh weather and “ruined” skin. Here is part two of my favourite summer products..!
Skin Perfection anti-tiredness day cream by L’Oréal.
I did a whole post dedicated to this product. It does everything that it promises while hydrating the skin all day. I don’t know if there it has any SPF in it, it doesn’t say on the product. I was working a lot this summer and it made such a difference in my appearance. This is I really good alternative to foundation and is a total must if you have pale skin. Summer is coming to an end and so the time has come to talk about my favourite products over the last months. These are products that I feel defined my summer. I might do a more detailed review about some of these items later on. Please let me know if you see a product you’d like to know more about. Some of these items are new while others are ones I have repurchased a few times. Most of these items have a really good staying power which I find so important. Since I have so many products to talk about I will be cutting this post into two parts. I did the same with the autumn trends just so someone other than me can actually get through it. Now I’ll get to it!
False Lash Effect Fusion, volume and length by Max Factor.
This mascara is so great and for a good part of the summer was my go to mascara. I don’t feel that it gives great length but it gives amazing volume. It combs each lash individually and it stays put all day every day. This is my third tube(almost empty) and I will be buying it again.
ColorElixir, Color Sensation – in the colour Alluring Coral (400) by Maybelline.
This is summer in a jar. This shade is a bright orange with a pink undertone.(the photos do not do it justice) The colour is so bright that sometimes I think it might glow in the dark. It has a faint pleasant smell to it. It’s very pigmented and shiny. The shine wears off eventually but the stain remains for a long time. It doesn’t crease which I like a lot. It’s just so fabulous. Continue reading “Favourite summer products 2015 pt 1”
To go deeper into the fall trend about metallic eye shadows I want to talk about yet another Maybelline product (no I’m not sponsored). The Color Tattoo 24HR eyeshadows. These come in a variation of shades, matte, metallic or shiny. I’m going to show you my favourite three colours and tell you a bit about them. They are all beautiful on their own but they are also a great base for eye shadow instead of a primer since they are creamy and grab well to the powder shadows.
Today I will be talking about some more autumn trends, as this is part two. What I really like is that bright skin is going to be everywhere. Highlighting and bringing attention to the cheekbones and beautiful healthy skin. Oh yes I am a big fan! Well here is part 2 enjoy!
Graphic and fishtail eyeliner.
What we will be seeing alot is that the cat eyeliner is slowly becoming less populare. This coming season is perfect to try out the fishtail style. If you are very brave you can go for graphic eyeliner which has been spotted a lot on the fall runway shows. Personally I think the fishtail look is pretty with a split wing that it gives you the look of fuller and longer lashes. It’s relatively easy to master and as always, practise makes perfect.
Summer is coming to an end and autumn is setting in and so I think it’s a perfect time to ponder on upcoming trends. Personally I love autumn and all the beautiful colours that come with it. It is one of my favourite seasons so it’s time to bring out the blankets, fairy lights and scented candles. (more on that in another post soon)
One of the things I notice the most is that the ultra-matte look seems to be and going on a hiatus. Shimmer, shine and glow seem to be coming back and coming back strong for the winter. So say goodbye to the matte lipsticks and matte contour and welcome back highlighters, baked blushes and shiny lips. These are predicted to be THE hottest trends for this fall and I’m excited!
Berry Lips
Darker shades in all kinds of delicious berry tones come knocking as the autumn comes rolling in. From subtle raspberry tones to statement dark cherry, everything goes. But for this fall velvet shine is all the rage. What describes the look best is 90’s without the lip liner. So pigmented glosses and glossy lipsticks and have some fun with it. Personally I love the lip pencils from Maybelline and the darker shades in Rouge in Love by Lancôme. They will be my go to lipsticks this fall.
Today i want to introduce you to something special. It’s advertised as a moisturizer but to me this product is so much more. L’Oréal’s SkinPerfection beautifying day cream. Now the first thing that caught my eye was the packaging. It’s so pretty and bright in neon pink and orange ombre tube with a metalic pink cap. I have to admit that I did no research on this before I bought it. It just looked really cool so I thought I’d give it a chance, since L’Oréal hasn’t let me down. I was on my way to work and I was running a bit late so I didn’t have any makeup on so i grabbed it with me. I tried it as soon as I got to work (wasn‘t late after all) and I have never tried anything like it.
Today I’d like to talk about the new mascara , Lash Sensational from Maybelline. I’ve been trying this one out for a few weeks and I really like it. The formula is thin and lightweight and very build-able The wand itself has silicone comb bristles, long on one side and they grow shorter on the other side and the brush is slightly bent. This gives the wand the ability to comb each eyelash separately, the result is amazing.
Now while the wand is exceptional it takes some getting used to. I was very clumsy when I was applying it for the first couple of times. This mascara does lengthen the lashes and separates them extremely well and I think it gives a lot of volume. When I’ve been using this product I only need 1 coat which is super quick and nice. I find that even though I’ve used the mascara for a few weeks it still has that “way too much product in the comb” thing going on. Continue reading “Lash Sensation! The new mascara from Maybelline”
I know I haven’t written anything in a while and the reason for it is simply that I really needed a break and haven‘t felt inspired at all. I’ve had some kind of inspiration block for weeks now. I have started many blog posts and all kinds of DIY projects but somehow I’m never able to finish. But now I feel the inspiration coming back and I hope to be posting a lot more frequently and publishing the posts I’ve started on.
Today I want to talk about a new product, The Mary Lou-manizer from The Balm. It has taken the country by storm. At first I thought this was one of those super hyped products that couldn’t hold up when it came down to it. Then I decided to just go for it and try it out. I’ve been testing it now for about 3 weeks and I have come to realize that this product is not hyped up, it’s just really good. All the products from The Balm come in a 50’s styled packaging with a sassy name which is completely unique. And that goes for the Mary Lou-manizer as well. It comes in a really cute silver compact with supposedly Mary Lou on the cover.
